How many years have you been operating?
The school opened in October 2010.
Have you grown in this time?
We now have a total of 7800+ members.
What type of courses do you offer?
We provide an 8-week online makeup course, which includes 18 training ebooks and 77 training videos. The “8 weeks” is just a guide. You can complete it on your own time and schedule and from your home. You can therefore take longer or shorter if you like. There is no time limit in which you have to complete your training.
Please download the brochure to see which training modules are included in the course and how it works.
Who are your teachers?
Anneke la Grange is our makeup artist and teacher. More info on Anneke can be found here.
Why did you start your business?
We saw the need for people to learn how to apply makeup professionally without spending a fortune and having to pay off student loans for years to come. We therefore created the online makeup course that also enables people who has full-time jobs to enrol and complete their training on their own time.
What are the biggest challenge/s you see your students facing?
Students can complete the course in their own time but that places the responsibility on the student to be disciplined and have a big enough desire to actually complete within a reasonable time and not procrastinate.
What’s your number one piece of advice to all makeup artists who want to turn their passion into profits and build a successful business?
Students need to be patient in building their client portfolio. Start by applying makeup for your friends and family at no cost. Not only does this enable you to create a portfolio, it creates the opportunity where your friends and family can tell others who their personal makeup artist is. Slowly but surely you will build up a nice client base that will bring in a steady income.
Do you have any “claim to fame” former students?
One of our students (Reslie Mundwiler) recently did the cover for Bold magazine.
We believe it is possible for students to become professional makeup artists through an online course even though many traditional makeup artists may not agree. Online training provides the basis for the student to learn professional techniques which he or she can use to create their own style.
