Business books: Learning is the new black

on May 21, 2015

We are serial learners here at Makeup Media Marketing. Learning is the new black, ladies! We’ve said that number times before.

On that note, here are some of our favourite business books that have helped us on our own business journey.

Happy reading!

Love at First Site Jon HollenburgLove at First Site, Jon Hollenberg

This is one of the cutest books I’ve ever seen. We love the story-telling throughout and it makes websites easy and fun. You’ll love “Steve”…in fact, we’re sure you’ll be able to relate to him.

Best bit: You are taken into the mind of a truly professional web designer and are given a clear, step-by-step implementation plan. “Steve” makes the process seem so much less daunting – especially for those who have never tried website design before.

Social Media Secret Sauce Adam Houlahan

We were only just talking to a friend of mine who purchased this book and is going through it page by page. I purchased it for my VA/writer too and I downloaded it for my Mum.

Best bit: Google Plus and Tumblr – these social platforms are often overlooked but are amazing for SEO and getting found. There’s a whole other movement happening, my friends, so get on it.

Daring and Disruptive Lisa Messenger

This woman is incredible. Honestly, if you only take one thing from this book and implement it your biz will thank you for it. I really related to her because of her publishing background and now she’s got one of the coolest mags on the planet – Collective Renogade.

Best bit: She’s completely honest about what it truly is like to be an entrepreneur. Love that.

Go-Givers Sell MoreGo-Givers Sell More, Bob Burg and John David Mann

Sales are where it’s at. But have you ever found yourself uttering the words: I’m not a salesperson? I don’t do sales? I know, me too. Until I did a business course called Key Person of Influence – and then read this book.

Best bit: This book has helped organisations and businesses, relationships and personal lives – its strategies can be applied to all aspects of life.

Actually – speaking of KPI, their book is pretty freaking awesome too. Simply put it provides a 5 Step Sequence to becoming one of the most highly valued and highly paid people in your industry.

Best bit: It has fabulous strategies that can be applied to any business. The strategies are proven time and time again so all businesses, whatever their size, could benefit from a read of this book.

All of the resources I have mentioned are my go-to guides for all things social, website and business related. I’ve linked their websites to each of their titles, so go get ‘em, you won’t regret it.
